1. Characteristics and Risks of Black Iron Pipes

No Anti-Corrosion Coating: Black iron pipes are ungalvanized carbon steel pipes with no surface anti-corrosion treatment. Long-term exposure to gas (especially moisture) can lead to severe corrosion and shorten their service life.

Susceptible to Rust: Gas pipelines may contain trace amounts of moisture or impurities. Black iron pipes can quickly oxidize and rust in humid environments, leading to blockages in the pipe walls, obstructing gas flow, and even causing leaks.

Safety Hazards: Rust from corrosion can clog valves or pressure-regulating equipment, increasing the risk of gas leaks and explosions.

2. Gas Pipeline Specifications

According to the "Urban Gas Design Code" (GB 50028-2020) and relevant industry standards:

Gas pipeline materials must possess corrosion resistance, sealing properties, and long-term stability.

Recommended materials include:

Polyethylene pipe (PE pipe): Corrosion-resistant and flexible, commonly used for medium- and low-pressure gas pipelines.

Seamless steel pipe/galvanized steel pipe (must meet anti-corrosion requirements): Used in some high-pressure applications, but requires an anti-corrosion coating (such as epoxy resin).

Stainless steel pipe: Suitable for use in particularly corrosive environments (such as coastal areas).

Ordinary black iron pipe is prohibited: It lacks corrosion protection and does not meet the long-term safe operation requirements of gas pipelines.
