In 2023, the Yuantai Derun-Tangshan production base commenced operations, boasting an annual capacity of 5 million tons. Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium (ZAM) steel coils and ZAM steel pipes are the newly developed products, which represent a new generation of high -performance anti-corrosion materials.
About Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Steel
The Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium (ZAM) coil is manufactured through a series of sophisticated processes, including hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling, and coating. Its unique coating composition includes zinc (Zn), aluminum (Al), and magnesium (Mg), which work together to provide exceptional surface protection.
Compared with conventional hot-dip galvanized steel, ZAM steel products provide enhanced corrosion resistance, increased edge protection, and a longer service life. In corrosion tests, In corrosion tests, ZAM materials have demonstrated surface corrosion resistance that is over twice that of conventional galvanized coatings. Furthermore, the corrosion resistance of these materials after forming has been shown to improve by 2 to 5 times, depending on the forming method and environment.
Neutral Salt Spray Test (NSS Test) for Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Steel Products
The Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) test is a widely used accelerated corrosion testing method that has been applied in numerous industries for decades. The product is able to simulate long-term environmental corrosion under controlled laboratory conditions. The test employs a 5% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution which is characterized by neutral pH range of 6–7 as the spray medium. The test temperature is maintained at 35°C, and the salt fog deposition rate is controlled between 1–2 ml/80 cm² per hour.
A common equivalence for corrosion resistance is:
A 24 hours of NSS test ≈ 1 year of natural environmental exposure
